THERE ARE MANY EXPERIENCES WE HAVE GONE THROUGH

It is our pleasure that you get to know each of the experiences lived by the students who have been part of the TCU-645, who have left their legacy in our project, and the project has left its mark on their training as professionals.

What do our colleagues say about the TCU?

Students share their experience!

"TCU has been one of the most beautiful experiences that the university left me; it allowed me to grow as a person and as a teacher, I learned new skills, I shared with new people, and it opened up an opportunity for me to learn about the indigenous population of Costa Rica.

What I am most grateful for is that it allows me to put into practice the knowledge acquired throughout my professional career;  to transmit learning to the indigenous population. Since I have had the opportunity to teach mathematics to indigenous students who took the admission tests to enter a public university. The TCU not only opens doors to those who perform it but also to those who can receive it".

"I remember that when the community work began, I was very anxious because I wanted to put into practice what I had learned in the education courses; after the first tour, I was very thankful for having obtained space in this TCU because I was able to confirm that I was born to teach.

During the year 2022, I had the opportunity to work at the Shikabali High School, and I was delighted that our TCU had prepared me for much of the work I did because I already knew the reality of Chirripó students and was able to help them with the needs they had. TCU gave me many tools."

"When I entered this TCU, the truth was that it was not one of my favorites, but I grew fond of the work that was done. I liked going to teach classes because the students of the Chirripó schools are very noble, and while they learned from me, I learned from them.

I will never forget the one that one of the students told me that he had walked 3 hours to get to school and had walked three rivers while I took a bus in front of my house to go to school and traveled no more than 15 minutes. That day I understood that these students have to excel despite adversity.

"My desire has always been to learn, live new experiences, and meet new people, and these were the things I was looking for when I enrolled at this TCU. Each one of the tours I participated in helped me grow as a professional and added knowledge to my life.

In this TCU, not only is our duty to carry out work as compensation to the University fulfilled, but we give our best to the service of other people who do not have the possibilities that the University of Costa Rica grants us as students and, that is where we learn to appreciate how important it is to carry the UCR seal".
